My Story

Writing has been a part of my life since before I could remember! I loved telling stories, making up worlds, making up friends — I was an only child growing up on a 100 acre farm in rural Eastern Ontario after all.

When I was in grade seven, a teacher told me that I was going to be a writer someday. I had written a story about a girl and her horse, and I received the dot-matrix printed copy back dripping in red ink. But that praise went straight to my head, filling it with dreams that someday, maybe, I'd see my book on a shelf in a bookstore.

Fast forward a few years, where life happened and serious writing took a back seat. I rode racehorses for awhile, played tournament paintball, ran my own equine business, and eventually went back to college, choosing a career as a Technical Writer.

In there somewhere I bought a Ford Mustang, married the man who sold it to me, and we now have two beautiful children.

But all through, I had kept writing on and off, a little bit of fan fiction and poetry. On a whim I wrote an original romance story inspired by the house on The Vampire Diaries and a what if question about being the caretaker of said house. That book is on Wattpad as For Alice, With Love, and was the first full length novel I ever wrote.

I'm very proud of that book; even if it never sees a bookshelf, it was proof I could do it!

Since then, I have written eight more full length novels, and several smaller short stories. My debut baseball themed romance Out of His League was one of Wattpad's Watty-winners in 2019 in the Romance category, and when W by Wattpad Books wanted to publish it, it was an enthusiastic YES!

To say that the dream of seeing my book on a shelf in a bookstore came true with a book that has no horses in it was a surprise, even for me!

Writing is my side hustle, I still work full time for the Canadian Federal Government, but it is a passion that keeps me going. I find time in the nooks and crannies of life to write, in between RV trips, gardening, camping, hiking, and volunteering with Girl Guides of Canada.
